June Leaf

Biography

June Leaf is an American artist who is known for her abstract paintings and drawings, and her work in modernist kinetic sculptures. Between the years 1947 and 1948 she studied for three months at the Institute of Design and then left to travel in Paris where she was focusing on creating and identifying abstraction and patterns in her own work. In 1954 she returned to the school to get her B.A in art education. She then moved to new york city in 1960. Her work is displayed in many museums including: the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Museum of Modern Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and many others.

June Leaf uses a variety of different mediums to create her art. She is known for her abstract paintings and drawings aswell as wire sculptures.

Artwork Analysis of my own piece

Many of June Leaf's art pieces remind me of my style of art and is what inspires me. I've experimented with wire and June Leaf uses wire in many of her pieces so I believe that that is what made me decide look into her art. I think I captured correctly the colour and techniques that June Leaf used to create this piece.
